Client Situation:

A leading consumer electronics manufacturer was at the top of its game with several very successful product lines and a well-coordinated price management process helping to drive positive financial results. With a well defined 'ladder' of good/better/best products, the company still sought to bring additional analytical rigor to address issues around product mix, configuration and lifecycle management.

Approach:

The first step towards better, more rigorous analysis was to provide a single, unified source of pricing and market data through Price Director. Additionally, Price Director incorporated price planning across geographies and channels into a single workbench to allow easy access and coordinated planning. Finally, Price Director enabled scenario-based analyses of alternative product configurations, portfolio margin mix, revenue and profit impact of proposed new additions to the product portfolio.

Impact:

During a First Value engagement, analysis identified opportunities for product configuration changes and line extension as well as meaningful revenue uplift across the portfolio, geographies and channels. Worldwide activation of Price Director is currently in process.
